Daily Blog
Another short one today because I have an early train to catch tmrw (exciting stuff). Today was a relatively uneventful day, emphasis on relatively. I realize here that the days I consider mundane or boring are often more eventful than even my most action packed days in high school. It is so easy to forget that I quite literally sleep and wake up in a castle, study with student founders worth millions next to me, and eat at the same dining halls as American presidents, billionaires, and Nobel laureates. Anyway, I think it's important that I don't lose sight of how fortunate I am to be here, regardless of how "mundane" a day may seem.
Regardless, I started the day by studying for my Econ midterm. I recognized that building my ability to study in high school was a huge blessing, as I now know the methods by which I absorb information most optimally. Take the time to experiment and find the study habits which work best for you, and I promise that you will not only get better grades, but also spend less time studying, allowing you to spend more time doing more interesting things (like playing Switch golf which I spent a significant portion of my day doing). Anyway, I also met over Meets with 2 Software Engineers at Google. They were both Yale alums, and I shot them a DM saying hi and asking to chat. We ended up having a lovely conversation about Yale, life, math, CS, Stephen Slade, internships, and (obviously) Google. At the end of the call, they let me know that they were actually coming back to Yale in a couple weeks to recruit for Google, and they asked to meet in person (excited for that).
Alright, that is it for tonight. Lesson of the day is that "mundanity" is relative, and there is so much beauty to be found in a "boring" day; bonus lesson is to never underestimate the power of a LinkedIn DM.
